Profile:

Golden Quest Ltd was formed in Scotland in 1997 for the purpose of locating and salvaging valuable shipwrecks and their cargos.  Shipwrecks provide a look into the past, such as the Titanic, and allow the finder to touch artifacts of a bygone era.  There is nothing in the world quite like it. Shipwrecks are found in all parts of the world but Golden Quest is dedicated to locating those wrecks which show a potential for profit.  This is where the vital aspect of research comes in.  Information about wrecks can be found in National archives, captains log books, newspapers, books and various other sources.

Once the information is acquired, then the search begins.  Golden Quest has the electronic equipment capable of locating the wrecks, whether they are buried under tons of sand or mud or on the ocean floor.  Some of the equipment consists of super high definition side scan sonar made by WESMAR and a proton magnetometer manufactured in England by Planet Electronics.

Here is an example of the type of items waiting to be found.  This is the Royal Salt Holder which sat on the King's dinning table.  It was used to impress heads of state.  It was solid gold; weighing about 30-40 lbs.  Shapped like the Tower of London.  Might fetch $40 million at auction!  King Charles' father, King James, gave it to the Zhar of Russia.

Once the wreck is located, then a diving team is assembled and the salvage work begins. Each artifact is tagged and logged into a computer.  After a wreck is completely worked, then an auction takes place and the government in whose waters the wreck is found and Golden Quest split the proceeds according to a contract which would have already been entered into.

Pete Arsenault from Canada donated this 50 ft. commercial boat to the company.

In short, we do it all; research, search, salvage and sales.  The company is also set up to produce its own documentaries.

Photo of the late Mel Fisher (L.), Bill Warren in center and Dr. John Ford (R.) who was the company's archaeologist. The photo was taken in 1989 on the docks in San Diego when Bill appointed Mel to his Board of Directors of his new publicly traded shipwreck salvage company in California. It was a press conferance and that is a replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship in background. The company will also be looking for the lead casket and body of Sir Francis Drake off Panama this summer.
